The Scottish Branch of the UK Noise Association (UKNA) was first launched in 2004 to highlight noise issues specifically relating to people living in Scotland.  Both UKNA Scotland and UKNA are campaigning organisations and not support groups for people with noise problems.  If you have a noise problem please contact our Noise Resource Service web site for general information or Noisedirect (Discuss your case under a fixed rate advice scheme with an experienced Environmental Health professional).

Prior to the elections in 2007, despite efforts to set up a regular dialogue with politicians at the Scottish Parliament, noise was not seen as a priority and it was found there was only a few MSPs that had any real interest in noise issues.

It is hoped that since the 2007 elections with a change in the mix of political parties, that noise will be taken more seriously.  The introduction of a European Directive that requires member states to provide noise maps and actions plans has led to a wave of interest and the Scottish parliament are already ahead of producing their action plans to reduce noise.

As a campaigning organisation UKNA Scotland’s first mission is to find out what are the key noise issues that are of concern to people living in Scotland.  So it is running an on-line survey, which you can access below.  The survey will run until the end of 2007 and is completely confidential.
